Our Approach to Teen Therapy & Young Adult Therapy in Denver, CO
You deserve to know what you’re choosing
Therapy here at Interfaith Bridge Counseling looks different from what you may have experienced before. And we want you to know exactly why that is so you can make an informed decision on us being the right fit. Here’s how we practice therapy, what modalities we use, and what the process actually looks like from start to finish.
How We Practice
Rooted in MBTC
Built around you
Our therapeutic approach is grounded in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling (MBTC). MBTC is a person-centered, liberation-based, and trauma-informed framework that considers you as a whole person. Together, we use techniques focused on your overall wellbeing in body, mind, and humanness. This means uniting your personal and cultural perspectives in our work, bringing all of you into the therapeutic space so you can reach the outcomes you’re actually looking for.
The transpersonal part of our approach is worth naming directly as it is where the whole person comes in. Through transpersonal counseling, means, we ask you to bring all aspects of yourself into the therapy space with us - your spiritual framework, your cultural identity, your lived experience, your values, and even your morals. All of it belongs here.
From that foundation, we draw on a range of evidence-based and relational modalities, tailored to what you actually need.
Centered
Based
Informed
Person
Person-Centered
You are the expert of your own lived experience, which means you are the driver of your own process here. Our therapists provide the container for insight, facilitation, and support. But where this goes is yours to determine.
Liberation-Based
We don't ask you to adapt to systems that were never built for you. When oppression, marginalization, or injustice is part of what you're carrying, we name it directly and we work with you to move through it with your identity intact.
Trauma-Informed
Trauma doesn't live only in your memories, it lives in your body, your nervous system, and the patterns you built to survive. We won't promise this work will be easy, but we can promise to make it braver, but safer, moving carefully, at your pace, with your consent.
Whole-Person
Your anxiety didn't come from nowhere. Your depression isn't just a chemical imbalance to be managed. We hold your inner life, your relationships, your culture, your sense of meaning through it all.

Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling (MBTC)
Every modality we use sits inside this framework. It’s what makes our work person-centered rather than protocol-driven, and liberation-based rather than just symptom-focused.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Identifying your values gives us a blueprint for the life you’re actually trying to foster. ACT helps us put the body back in the lead, quieting the noise of the mind and giving your therapeutic work a structure to orient around with actionable steps.

Somatic Therapy
When your mind has been working overtime by managing stress, holding traumatic flashbacks, trying to keep everything together, somatic therapy helps to re-establish the mind-body relationship. The body can then take the lead again and the mind learns it doesn’t have to carry it all alone.

Synergetic Play Therapy
Play is our natural state of being. And for teens and young adults, play shows up as storytelling, meaning-making, role play, and creative expressions. This gives you a way to connect and process without requiring language you may not have, for what you’re going through.

Geek Therapy
Every clinician on our team is a geek in some way. Fandoms, games, pop culture, even video games…these aren’t escapes from the world or who you are, they’re the language and pathways to them. We speak them and we use them as a genuine tool for in-depth processing.

Gestalt & Parts Work
Most internal conflict and inner critic voices come from different parts of you wanting different things. Parts work help you understand those parts rather than fight or dissociate from them.
The Therapy Timeline
The 4-Step Support Program, Our signature process
We’ve learned that meaningful, long lasting therapy for teens and young adults takes on average 18-24 months. That’s roughly 72 sessions, which is equivalent to 72 hours or three (3) full days of your life. Some people move through our process more quickly, while others might need a little more time, depending on what is being worked on and through.
Each step of our process has been built out with intention and in fact, build on the one before it. Which means our timeline isn’t arbitrary. No one person can just skip to communal support without first knowing what’s theirs. And no one can integrate skills they haven’t been taught yet. Therapy and the timeline is a process, and it’s why the therapeutic work with us actually holds.
Months 0–3
01. Recognition
Before anything else can shift, you have to be able to feel what's actually happening, both in your mind and throughout your body. Step one is about learning to recognize your internal experiences and your somatic sensations without judgment. It takes emotional bravery to look honestly at what's happening. And it's the foundation everything else is built on.
Months 3–9
02. Self-Exploration
Once you are able to feel what's happening, you can start discovering what's actually yours. What genuinely activates you - your emotions, your curiosity, your sense of meaning and purpose. This is where we begin building out your identity, clarifying your values, and establishing the boundaries that make autonomy possible.
Months 9–18
03. Communal Support
The internal work can't and doesn't stay internal. This step is about learning to build real, in-depth relationships with peers and other people, grounded in accountability, consent, and belonging. Not just friendships, but the kind of community that lasts. The kind you actually want to come back to and deserve to have access to.
Months 18–24+
04. Skill Building
And finally, where everything integrates. The tools and practices you've developed along the way become less effortful and more instinctive. Our therapy shifts from navigating crisis to sustaining a life of purpose, autonomy, and genuine confidence in who you are and the life you're living.
